New 25.2 MP sensor The LUMIX G9II's uncompromising image quality captures your decisive moments in ultra-realistic detail that makes you feel you’re there. The new 25.2MP Live MOS sensor with Phase Detection AF delivers richer tonal expression, with a significant improvement in capturing shadows when shooting in RAW. With no low-pass filter, its design allows both for more pixels and higher resolution, and the ISO100 setting is ideal for outdoor shooting. In addition, its higher readout speed delivers C4K/4K 120p video recording and 75 fps burst shooting using the electronic shutter, while also minimizing rolling shutter distortion.
A new-generation engine The latest engine delivers approximately twice the processing power, enabling high-speed processing of higher-resolution, higher bit-rate video. It is endowed with technology developed jointly by LEICA and LUMIX. The combination of the new sensor and engine realizes both Phase Detection AF and high image quality for photos and videos.
100MP Handheld High Resolution Mode The LUMIX G9II's High Resolution Mode supports hand-held shooting, using the Body Image Stabilizer (B.I.S.) mechanism to shift the sensor while capturing consecutive images. Then, it selects multiple steadiest shots and automatically synthesizes them into a 100-megapixel equivalent (11,552 × 8,672-pixel) file. This allows you to capture magnificent natural scenery and detailed works of art in ultra-high resolution without using a tripod. The LUMIX G9II supports RAW file recording, JPEG file recording, and RAW processing during playback, with quick access from the drive mode dial.
Live View Composite The camera takes multiple images, creating composite images from only those areas that vary in brightness. This feature is convenient for taking images of the night sky that show the light trails of stars or fireworks. Each time the shutter is operated, a composite image is displayed, allowing users to shoot while confirming the results in real time.
Time Lapse Video with 4K 60p/50p The LUMIX G9II supports interval capture to create time lapse video in the camera body itself and is also capable of 4K 60p/50p. Still photos can also be shot with V-Log or Like709 for outstanding handling in post-production. Exposure smoothing takes place during processing, resulting in beautiful time lapse videos with smooth exposure changes.
Dependable autofocus system The most important thing with autofocus is to be dependable. It’s all about how quickly and faithfully you can capture the subject. In addition to contrast AF, the LUMIX G9II is the first LUMIX G series camera to offer the Phase Detection AF system, which dramatically improves subject tracking and light recognition performance. The camera can capture the subject even in challenging scenes where multiple subjects are involved, delivering accuracy even in backlit or low-light environments.
Advanced detection AF The LUMIX G9II’s advanced detection AF pushes the envelope on of sports, wildlife, and racing photography. More accurate human body recognition enables you to single out a subject from among a field of athletes, for example, and shoot continuously. Other new functions include animal eye recognition and car/motorcycle recognition.
AFC 60 fps burst shooting The new sensor’s higher readout speed and new Venus Engine’s superior processing power enable 60 fps burst shooting with AFC, as well as burst shooting of up to approximately 3 seconds, all with the viewfinder remaining backout-free. The sensor’s higher readout speed also minimizes rolling shutter distortion and captures images that are too fast for the naked eye to process.
Pre-burst shooting What if you could turn back time to capture a shot? With pre-burst shooting, you can. The LUMIX G9II offers advanced flexibility with a choice of 0.5, 1.0, or 1.5-second pre-burst settings. Now you’ll never miss that decisive moment, even in the most dynamic situations, from the flapping of a bird’s wings to an unexpected play on the field.
Hand-held shooting on the move Handheld shooting can be challenging. The LUMIX G9II makes it a bit easier. B.I.S. with 8.0-stop compensation power corrects camera shake, meaning you can use up to 8.0-stop slower shutter speeds. At telephoto range, where B.I.S. is reduced, 7.5-stop 5-axis Dual I.S. 2 provides powerful compensation, allowing you to express your creativity without limitations in low-light environments and at telephoto range.
Intuitive operation The intuitive, well-calculated layout and the 8-directional joystick, with all shooting buttons concentrated on the right side and the most frequently used buttons, such as the joystick, within reach of the thumb, allow for intuitive operation. The focus area can be intuitively selected with a touch of the thumb. This allows you to take pictures quickly and easily while keeping your focus on the subject.
Viewfinder for excellent color reproduction The 3,680k-dot 0.8× live view finder uses a highly responsive, easy-to-see OLED display to capture even fast-moving subjects in fine detail. In addition, the high contrast display (approx. 10,000:1) presents the subject with fine gradations and high clarity throughout.
High outdoor visibility free-angle monitor LUMIX G9II features a 1840k-dot 3.0-inch LCD. With outstanding brightness and a wide color gamut, it offers high visibility for outdoor shoots. Its free-angle touch screen makes it easy to compose high- and low-angle shots, further adding to the convenience and flexibility of the camera.
Tough body for a wide range of weather conditions The tough body is ready to take on a variety of challenging shooting environments. The magnesium alloy full die-cast frame is highly durable, while sealing helps protect seam, dial, and button. The camera as a whole is dust- and splash-resistant and designed for use at temperatures as low as -10 °C. In combination, these features help make shooting both productive and enjoyable in a wide range of weather conditions.
Extended battery life: USB power supply Compatible with USB 3.2 Gen2 Type-C, allowing you to shoot while charging at high speed, convenient during long shoots in the studio or elsewhere. The battery can be charged while supplying power to the camera when used in combination with USB Power Delivery standard compliant battery charger model DMW-BTC15 (sold separately).
Double SD card slot for flexible data management Both SD card slots are UHS-II SDXC card compatible. Relay Recording allows relays recording between memory cards when the initial card becomes full during recording. Backup Recording allows the same data to be recorded to both cards at the same time. Allocation Record mode allows you to specify the card slot to be used for recording still photographs and video.
Easy firmware updates via smartphone Smart connectivity via Wi-Fi 5GHz bands (IEEE802.11ac) and Bluetooth 5.0 (Low Energy) for easy remote control. Panasonic's LUMIX Sync app for Android/iOS allows you to customize shooting settings, including remote shutter release. Updating camera firmware and copying settings to multiple cameras is also simple via LUMIX Sync.
Incredible slow-motion video Express that moment in incredible slow-motion video without the need for special equipment or software. You can record HFR (high frame rate) video with C4K/4K 10-bit 120p/100p audio, and 12.5× super slow-motion video (FHD 10-bit 24p/300fps). Start creating video with greater ease and simplicity with the LUMIX G9II.
Great for shooting on the move The LUMIX G9II also makes it easy to shoot video on the move. Active I.S. determines the status of camera shake and optimizes correction ratios to compensate even for significant motion, while advanced E.I.S. suppresses peripheral distortion that occurs during video shooting. So now you can capture beautiful images, even if you need to move quickly while the camera is rolling.
